Take part in the future of ZAP How? As you all know, we are working flat out to get the first secondary school in NKulamaziba - one of the poorest regions of Zambia - built. The first phase of the project - a schoolblock consisting of 4 schoolrooms, offices, a meeting room and a storage room - is up and running. Some 55 children are attending school now but after the April vacation there will already be more than 100. In spite of the extraordinarily heavy rains of the last few months (there hasn't been as much rain in Zambia for the past nine years) we managed to make great strides with the construction of the first five teacher's houses. They will be delivered by the end of April! The second phase of the project: the construction of a further four teacher's houses, will start in May. And then, in May 2018, we will start building another four teacher's houses and two classrooms, one of which will be a science room. That means that, once they are finished, some 900 children will be attending the school. In this video you will get an impression of our activities during the last few months. Look for more impressions from ZAP on YouTube >> Did you know that at this secondary school: Six qualified teachers are working The Ministry of Education is providing all the learning materials World Vision has pledged to install a second water pump And that: 10 ZAP workers completed an official course for construction workers. This year another 10 workers will follow suit. By now 100 girls are being sponsored by ZAP to remain in school A nursery class has been started at NKulamaziba to accustom children to the school rhythm Kind regards, ZAP (Zambia Allocation Program) Josien Dudok van Heel Watch all projects realised by ZAP >> | |
