Dear Founding Fathers and Friends of ZAP,

After having spent two months in Zambia, I am very delighted to tell you that there has been an enormous improvement on the several ZAP initiatives.
I am very proud of the ZAP team, which currently works with 20 people on the several projects. My gratitude naturally belongs to the Founding Fathers and friends of ZAP, who have made all of this possible.
The video below gives an impression of the developments of the Kaindu Basic School and the Big Concession Community School and the Luketekelo Famers Group. I hope you will take the time to have a look at the video.

Life in Zambia charms me very much. I spend 80% of my time in the middle of the bush in the area Mushingashi. Although in 'the middle of nowhere', life here can not escape from intrigues and schemes. The attempts to use the ZAP projects to introduce the concept of emancipation in the jungle sometimes leads to hilarious situations.
The teams work with both male and female workers, which occasionally causes some jealousy amongst the women in the village. They will not let a chance go by to announce reveal the existence of affaires within the team. This gossiping inevitably leads to regular yelling and name calling. I would have never expected having to mediate with the school committees between jealous women.

Applications to support the most varying projects is a continuously ongoing process. Applications might be for the construction of schools, but also requests for bikes, blankets, wheel chairs, cow-pulled barrows, etc. When I return to Zambia in June, I have several meetings setup to decide on which projects fit the goals of the foundation.

I wish you all a lovely summer and in September I will gladly inform you again on all new developments.

With kindest regards,

ZAP (Zambia Allocation Program)
Josien Dudok van Heel.
