Dear Founding Fathers and Friends of ZAP,

We would like to thank everyone who has supported ZAP in 2008 enormously. Because of your donations and support, ZAP has already accomplished a lot! In the area Mushingashi and at various organisations in Mumbwa, ZAP has established itself. Besides donations from business and other foundations, a large number of individuals have supported ZAP in a special way.

We are very proud that ZAP's new website is now on air. Next to news, you can find information on how to become a Founding Father or Friend of ZAP.

Good news: ZAP has obtained the (Dutch) ANBI status, which means that a sponsor can deduct its donations for tax purposes.

Next to the project for the Kaindu Basic School, we have received multiple other applications. A careful selection takes place before we decide what projects we will support. ZAP has now chosen for the following alternatives:

The Big Concession Community School
The Big Concession Community School, which is also located in the area Mushingashi, is attended by 220 children. The school has grown so much in the past years, that a new accommodation has been built.
Although the teachers are being paid by the government, the school is not capable of attracting qualified teachers. This is due to the lack of housing possibilities. ZAP has committed to at least build one teachers' home, and hopefully we can build more in the future. In March we will discuss on when the construction activities can start. The project will be managed by two headmen of the ZAP team.

The Luketekelo Farmers Group
ZAP will also support the Luketekelo Farmers Group. This is the agricultural cooperation that was founded in 2007 to fight poverty and to learn from each other by working together.
Next to financial support, the Group also asked for various vegetable seeds. Several companies in The Netherlands have committed to donating these seeds.

Mrs. Chilambwe Mumbalanga
Besides the above mentioned projects, ZAP will hopefully work together with Mrs. Chilambwe Mumbalanga. We were very much impressed with this intelligent and driven woman who, after having worked in business for years, now wants to start a small farm where elderly people can live and work. Chilambwe has formed a plan accompanied by a budget she needs to start. She is now in mature negotiations with the Ministry of Community Development and Social Welfare regarding governmental subsidies. For the shelter of elderly, Chilambwe already is in need of walking racks and crutches.
May you know of people who can provide her with these (second-hand), we would love to hear so.

In May you will be informed of all new developments.

With kindest regards,
ZAP (Zambia Allocation Program)
Josien Dudok van Heel.
